8 Months

Mason turned 8 months. He is still working through his first cold.

Here are some pictures we took in the park. I'll leave Bill to post the videos, since he likes to spice them up with music.

He won't sit still for pictures... here is the best we could do.

Swing in the park

Today was a beautiful day, and we decided to stop by the park. Last time, Mason seem less than thrilled to be in the swing. Today, however, he seemed to enjoy himself (sorry for the quality, it was my camera phone):

Movie Time!

So, we have a few movies so we can share some of those fancy moving pictures.

First, the moment we've been dreading waiting for! Mason gets mobile!

Now, in the Burns family, there's this really annoying habit (I have it too) of tongue manipulation. If we're doing anything strenuous (or anything we think is even mildly strenuous) then we stick our tongue out, writhe it around a bit, and sometimes even squinch up our face. Well, apparently this trait is genetic [WARNING: for those of you unfamiliar with this trait, the following may be mildly amusing/disturbing]:

The Godfather

After showing this to Cecilia, she thought some of his expressions looked like the Godfather. So I whipped up this video to see:

Now, when it comes to potty training (you can tell this is my post, not Cecilia's) - you have to look for the subtle signs that perhaps your baby might need to do their business. I happened to have caught just such a quiet, subtle moment, so that others might be able to use this in their potty training:

Now, on to some more fun stuff. Mason is getting mobile around his pack'n'play. If you listen closely at around 37 seconds, you'll hear a chinese "fong-pi" - and the reason Mason and I laugh (yes, we're boys):

And, he is now having fun with a soccer ball:

Steamboat Colds

For President's Day weekend, we rented a condo in Steamboat Springs. I had been sick the week before, so I was worried about having energy up there. Fortunately, by Saturday, I was feeling better. Unfortunately, by Saturday, Mason had caught my cold. His first. He woke up every hour or two Saturday night, and was very congested.

During the day, however, his spirits were up, and other than a runny nose and a lot of drooling, he has done quite well. He hasn't had a fever fortunately.

So, since we would be out with Mason, Cecilia picked him up a ski outfit that matched Daddy's:

Here's another picture of Mason and me:

Kimono Clap

Mason got a cool Kimono from his auntie Diana. I think he was tired of the camera at this point:

One of the things he's doing now is to grab your hands and stand up. Once he does, however, he likes to be risky and let go of one hand. He may just skip crawling and go to walking.
If you click on the picture below, you'll get to see a good shot of his upper teeth.
Here is Mason putting on a George Costanza pose:

Ah, nothing like naked crawling. He started to take 2 "steps" crawling yesterday, then he lays down. I guess it's tiring. I'm sure this picture will show up at his wedding:
And now, for his newest trick. I think he picked this up from the Baby Einstein video:
