Sleep genes
I always joke that if I could bottle my ability to sleep and sell it, I would be a billionaire. It is no joke. I can ask Bill a question and by the end of his answer, I am snoring. Thankfully, both kids have always been good sleepers, with Mason being a better sleeper than Audrey. They fall asleep easily, can sleep in a new place and stay asleep all night. Last weekend, Audrey slept in Mason's room to accommodate or guests. They often share a room when we travel, so it is not new. But Audrey was so excited, she was talking to him after he was snoozing and woke up in the middle of the night to share her excitement. Mason however wakes up in the morning and says "I slept very well. Audrey didn't bother me at all!"
Batcave
Cindy and David gave the kids gift cards to Amazon and other gifts over the weekend (very unnecessary and very generous). Mason was excited to get the LEGO batman cave set (600+ pieces). I made him wait until I was back from Philly to open it. The deal was also he would not get any help from us and he would stop when it was time to stop playing without complaint. He started building it on Thursday night. Between before and after school hours, he got finished Saturday morning (after a total of 3 hours). He did it all on his own.
Rock'n'Roll
Diana & John and Cindy & David came to visit last weekend. We had a great weekend filled with great food (Rioja, Linger, sushi Zanmai, Tees and Cakes and Euclid Hall), visited Red Rocks with promise to come back for a concert one day, checked out the flagship REI downtown and Boulder. The main activity was Saturday morning, when John, David and Bill rode in the first Rock'n'Roll bike ride of the marathon course, and Cindy ran the half marathon (after running a half marathon in Philly just the weekend prior - she runs a lot!). Diana, he kids and I joined in time to see them finish the two events.
We had such a great weekend that David has already signed up for Rock'n'Roll events in Denver in Oct of 2013!

First sick day
Week 5 of kindergarten and Mason is sick. The usual cough, running nose and congestion combination which led to a fever last night. He missed his first day of school with more to come this week. It is not surprising since he is at a new school with 24 new kids in his class and 900 kids at school.
We hope he recovers quickly and before aunt Diana and John, Cindy and David come to visit this weekend. We also pray that Audrey doesn't get infected.

Last pool day
We went to the Forsberg's pool during their closing weekend this past Saturday. The weather was perfect (not too hot), the water was heated, and it wasn't too crowded. We all had a great time at the pool, probably for the last time this season. Mason is showing more comfort in the water, but we are going to sign him and Audrey up for swim lessons before the next season starts. Unfortunately we didn't take any pictures.
Jef couldn't join us at the pool, as he is working on the opening of his new restaurant (Harold's) next weekend. He is once again the executive chef and no longer has to commute 2 hours a day (the restaurant is less than 2 miles from their house). We can't wait to try it!

Arvada Harvest Festival
While Bill took Mason to Ben's birthday party, I took Audrey to Arvada's Harvest Festival (87th year and 2nd oldest in Colorado). It was out first time. Found parking easily half block away from the kid area. Audrey got to walk/crawl on the water inside a giant ball, had two turns in the jumping castle, went through two gymnastic mini exhibits, played in the park and jumped in the bungee trampoline (which I wasn't sure she wanted to do after a scary back flip experience at the longmont festival a couple of months ago). But she did it all and had fun.
We were in our car about to leave when I saw this old lady (85+) walking slowly with a cane and carrying a folding lawn chair. She asked me if I knew where the band was playing. I hadn't seen a band, but checked my iPhone and found that they were supposed to be playing 2.5 blocks from where we were. She said her friend was in it and she promised to come watch, but she wasn't sure about walking another 2.5 blocks. She was ready to turn around to go back to her car. I would had gladly given her a ride if streets weren't all blocked. She left and proceeded slowly. I dropped a few things in the car and asked Audrey if we could help the old lady get to her destination, and she quickly agreed. I took her chair and Audrey held on to one side, and we all walked slowly together to the tent where the band was playing. Her name was Virginia. She told us stories of coming to the festival when she was much younger, selling drinks and how she hadn't come in many years. She was very grateful. We were happy to help.

New buddy
Here is Mason with his new kindergarten buddy Blake. They were both at Ben's birthday party on Sunday.
We are glad to see him making new friends.

8 years!
Bill and I celebrated our 8th anniversary this Wednesday. How time flies. I still remember that great weekend in Crested Butte with friends and family like it was yesterday.
It's been a busy work week and I had scheduled a meeting for Wednesday in Denver with 7 coworkers, 6 flying in for the meeting. I didn't forget our anniversary, but didn't realize the important date when I scheduled the meeting. But, we were still able to go on a dinner date.

Labor day weekend
Nai Nai and GrandPa Jack came to visit us over Labor Day weekend. We hang out, BBQed, spent time at Heather's and went to the zoo. More pictures need to be loaded, but here are some.
Bill and I also go to see Book of Mormon on Saturday. Tickets sold out quickly for all the shows, but our Frieda Jef and Michele know the director and had an extra pair of tickets. I thought it was hilarious, but people many find the type of humor offensive (same creators as South Park).
