Christmas Break

We are back at work after 11 days off. My company has been closing over Christmas Holidays for the past few years, and Bill's company had a week of furlough this year. We took Mason out of daycare so he could be with us for the week.

Bill's mom Helen and Jack came to visit from Atlanta. They arrived at the same time my parents had to go to the airport for their trip to California. They got to see each for a few minutes at the aiport.

GrandPa Jack is a great cook, and he prepared, frozen and brought a number of meals for us. They were all delicous! We didn't even have enough days to go through all the food, there are still 2 meals in our freezer. All the eating was great, but Bill and I signed up for the gym and personal trainer right before Christmas, so we had to log what foods we were eating during the whole break. Timing to start our diet/exercise that week was perhaps not the best, or our personal trainer may say that it is!

This is the first Christmas Mason really understood the concept of gifts and Santa. For a couple of weeks, since the tree was setup and gifts started arriving, that he wanted to open them. We told him we all had to wait until Christmas, and even hung up a Christmas countdown calendar - I am not sure if he got that.

Aunt Heather, Jamie and Ed came up for dinner on Christmas eve. We had a wonderful white Christmas (and cold, but we stayed in). Nai Nai (Grammie Helen) and GrandPa Jack brought a Santa plate and cup for the kids. We left Santa cookies and milk, which was all gone by the morning (you will see the crumbs Santa left - he is a messy eater!) with a note and gift for the kids under the tree.

Summary from our Christmas break:
- one loud flute that Nai Nai purchased, but Mommy selected
- two wonderful kids with lots of new toys - thank you everyone and Santa
- three deep tissue massages (Bill, Helen and I both got massages at Taliesin Spa near our house)
- four Mr Potato Heads around the house with all its parts spread around
- five-man band playing at Andy's New Year party (Andy, Jay, Al, Jef and Wade)
- six kids join in getting Helen and Jack a new TV
- seven hours of sleep at night on average, and wishing for more
- eight of us at Benihanas for a great meal (after my parents were back from CA)
- nine foods that Jack prepared and brought with him from Atlanta (turkey, stuffing, pot roast, spanish rice, turkey soup, spaghetti sauce, chilli, ham and cheese linguini, chicken potpie)
- ten - 2010!!
- eleven days off work
