Playset

We have been talking about getting a playset for the backyard. We looked a new playsets that come in a box and require extensive assembly. Being cheap, I looked and found a used set on craiglist for much less! We promptly called and setup a visit to check it out. I thought it was a bargain and in good condition (6 years old), Bill was less enthusiastic primarily because the wood looked a little weathered and it didn't look as good in this person's backyard. Under the Colorado Sun, a new set would look like that is a couple of years. He didn't see my vision! We made an offer and got the playset.

Next step was to prepare our backyard, which is not flat. We needed a flat stop and ideally put down playground chips for the set. Jamie's nephew Aaron and his friend Kenny both work for the Highlands Ranch parks. They agreed to do the work as a side weekend project. Although the landscaping, including all materials, would be 5x the cost of the set, it was still much cheaper compared to other estimates we got.

We couldn't be happier with the end result. It takes only a little corner of our yard and looks great if you ask me. Mason loves it and I'm sure Audrey will too when she gets old enough to use it. Here are some pictures of the assembly and yard prep.
