Great zoo expectations

The Denver Zoo has been working on the Asian Elephant Passage exhibit for the last 3 years. It will be finally completed this Summer. Yesterday, I say no one of my FB friend's page "checking out the new elephant passage" with a picture of their son. I was excited thinking it was open or available for preview by members. We packed the kids this morning and headed to the zoo, only to find out members can now prepurchase tickets, but the exhibit doesn't open until May 19th. As it turns out, our friends lucked out yesterday as they let a small group of people passing by go in to see how people would walk through the area and how long they would take. Most of the animals are not in the area yet, only the new baby elephant and his mommy. Once opened, they are charging an extra fee for the elephant exhibit during the first month and will have specific entry times to the new area.

Even without the new exhibit, the zoo was very busy. We had two cars waiting for our parking spot when we left at 1. Once the exhibit opens and Summer comes around, they are recommending leaving an hour to find parking. Ah, no thank you. I think we will wait until the Fall when it gets less busy.

We were disappointed that we didn't get to see the new area, but still had a great time at the zoo.
