Mason's pediatrician recommended we go see the urologist. We went to Dr. Furness yesterday, the pediatric urologist we saw for his hydrocele when he was little. Dr. Furness determined that he has a small urethral opening (reason his pee can shoot 6 ft away and we keep seeing/cleaning pee behind the toilet is not just due to bad aim) and some webbing on the base of his penis, so he needs to go in for an out-patient surgery on August 4th. This is all information I am sure he would love to share on this blog and read in the future as he grows up!! But at least this blog entry won't contain any pictures.
Penis surgery is not something parents want to see their son go through, but this a small procedure and minor compared to what some other parents need to go through (autism like our neighbor's son Connor, or brain surgery like our friends the Prices - their son Ethan is completely fine after his surgery).
Mason was very happy to see the doctor, as he has had some discomfort on his pee pee. I told him that we were going to see the doctor, and he started referring to Dr. Furness on the way to the appointment as the "Pee Pee Doctor". We tried to get him to say Urologist, but he refused, and at one time he said "I can't say it. My mouth is too young."
We hope our report post surgery in both outcome and how Mason feels is positive. Pray for us.
